Warde’s Cross Country team celebrated the nearing end of a fun-filled, and successful season with an amazing Senior Night on October 19th. As they prepared for the approaching FCIAC meet, they shared a great evening together as a team, making memories and having fun. The three seniors on the Girls Cross Country team, Allie, Emi, and Samantha, all agreed that the best part of the team was the community, and how it felt like a second family to them. The team has had a great season this year, with varsity runners appearing in the top 5 in every race. Warde also earned 1st place at the home race on September 28th. At the FCIAC championships, Warde varsity runners came in the top ten for boys and girls, and Warde achieved 3rd place in 5000 meter varsity overall.
At Senior Night, the team enjoyed a nice meal together, as well as fun games following their practice. While many remarked on being sad to see the season end, they also expressed excitement for next year’s season and what’s to come in future seasons. Warde will have to say goodbye to many awesome seniors on the team, but all wish them luck in future endeavors.
This year the team enjoyed many fun experiences, including the XC Invitational race in Warwick, Rhode Island. This race brought together runners from nearby states in one race with thousands of runners. All of these runners share the same passion for cross country, cultivating enthusiastic and energetic communities amongst all team members.
